Travelers are stuck in massive lines, missing flights by hours as the funding battle surrounding DHS continues.
For anyone who is unlucky enough to have to catch a flight, consider taking a moment to thank a Democrat.
The Gateway Pundit reported,
Senate Democrats have given the world a sneak preview of how they will manage the government if they return to power by effectively shuttering Homeland Security of all mission-critical operations because of a policy disagreement over how ICE, which is housed under the agency, handles deportations of illegal aliens.
The strategy to obstruct DHS operations has become a microcosm for Democratic leadership: at one and the same time, malevolent and incompetent.
Its malevolence is exhibited in the fact that deportations operations are being used as the putative basis for suspending funding indefinitely for the agency.
Its incompetence is on full display in the fact that ICE, the one agency that DHS Democrats hate the most, remains funded and active due to the One Big Beautiful Bill, which allocated hundreds of millions in funds to the subagency separate and apart of the yearly appropriations bills.
Democrats continue to block Republican attempts to fund DHS and end the airport nightmare.
Senator Chuck Schumer desperately attempted to divert attention away from the Democrats by suggesting a suspension of Senate rules to a committee that does not have jurisdiction over spending.
The Hill reported,
Senate Republicans on Saturday voted against an unusual procedural gambit by Senate Democratic Leader Chuck Schumer (N.Y.) to suspend the Senate rules and advance a bill through the Rules Committee to fund the Transportation Security Administration (TSA).
The motion failed by a party-line vote of 41 to 49. It needed 60 votes to succeed.
Senate Majority Leader John Thune (R-S.D.) dismissed the proposal as a “convoluted” attempt to circumvent the Senate Appropriations Committee, which is engaged in talks with White House border czar Tom Homan to reopen the Department of Homeland Security, whose funding lapsed on Feb. 14.
“This is a Schumer motion to suspend the rules and refer the House message, the bill that we’re on, to the Rules Committee, which doesn’t have jurisdiction over appropriations or spending, and he’s trying to call it a vote to fund TSA?” Thune said on the floor.
Democrats are doing everything they can to avoid funding the Department of Homeland Security, using the suffering of Americans as leverage against immigration enforcement.
For anyone stuck in long lines at the airport, remember to thank a Democrat.
