Marvin Morales-Ortez, 23, an illegal from El Salvador, was released from custody after the Fairfax County Commonwealth’s Attorney’s Office, led by Soros-backed Attorney Steve Descano, dropped a case against him for charges of allegedly brandishing a gun and assaulting and injuring someone.

Fox News’ Bill Melugin notes he was released back onto the streets after an ICE detainer was ignored.

The next day, it is alleged he is responsible for the murder of a man found dead in a home in Reston, Va., according to the Fairfax County Police Department.

Before the latest incident, Morales-Ortez already had a lengthy criminal record.

WJLA News reports, “court records indicate that since 2020, Morales-Ortez had been charged with at least seven crimes in Fairfax County.”

Per WJLA:

Sean Kennedy with Virginians For Safe Communities, who has been highly critical of Fairfax County Commonwealth’s Attorney Steve Descano, said Morales-Ortez never should have been out of jail and able to allegedly commit a homicide on Wednesday.

“This is not an outlier. This is the rule of thumb for this office,” Kennedy said. “This individual was likely to commit more crimes. They knew it, and they didn’t care.”

Fairfax County Police shared on X, “The Fairfax County Police Department (FCPD) is aware Marvin Fernando Morales-Ortez was released by a General District Court order from the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center (ADC) yesterday. ”

“After his release, a Community Services Board (CSB) clinician obtained an Emergency Custody Order (ECO) for Morales-Ortez. An ECO is valid for eight after issuance by a magistrate.”

“FCPD Reston District patrol officers were then dispatched to serve the ECO and take Morales-Ortez into custody. FCPD patrol officers responded to the address of record for Morales-Ortez and did not locate him at his residence. The ECO expired shortly thereafter.”

An ICE spokesman noted, “Fairfax County failed the victim by refusing to work with ICE and releasing this criminal alien onto Virginia streets instead of safely into ICE custody.”

“If Fairfax County would have simply worked to uphold our nation’s laws, then this tragedy may have never happened.”

Descano was elected in 2019 with significant financial support from the Justice and Public Safety PAC, a political action committee primarily funded by George Soros.

Key details from campaign finance reporting and media coverage:In 2019, the PAC contributed amounts ranging from $459,000 to $601,000+ to Descano’s campaign, representing a majority (up to 72%) of his total funds.

Additional contributions in later cycles brought the total from this PAC to over $627,000 between 2019 and 2023.

The PAC is part of Soros’s broader efforts to support progressive prosecutor candidates nationwide, often through entities like his Open Society Foundations or related groups.
