JUST IN: Jim Jordan Subpoenas Jack Smith

House Judiciary Chairman Jim Jordan (R-OH) subpoenaed former Special Counsel Jack Smith for a closed-door deposition on December 17.

Chairman Jordan also subpoenaed Jack Smith for documents related to his lawfare investigation into Trump.

“The Committee on the Judiciary is continuing to conduct oversight of the operations of the Office of Special Counsel you led—specifically, your team’s prosecutions of President Donald J. Trump and his co-defendants. Due to your service as Special Counsel, the Committee believes that you possess information that is vital to its oversight of this matter,” Jim Jordan said in a letter to Jack Smith.

“Based upon communications with your counsel, we understand that you are available to testify at a deposition on December 17, 2025. Accordingly, please find enclosed a testimonial subpoena for a deposition at 10:00 a.m. on December 17, 2025 and a document subpoena for the requested materials to be produced to the Committee by December 12, 2025,” Jordan said in a letter obtained by The Gateway Pundit.

Fox News reported:

House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jim Jordan, R-Ohio, subpoenaed former special counsel Jack Smith on Wednesday for a deposition, escalating their investigation into one of President Donald Trump’s top political foes.

Jordan directed Smith to appear before the committee on Dec. 17, according to a copy of the subpoena reviewed by Fox News Digital.

“Due to your service as Special Counsel, the Committee believes that you possess information that is vital to its oversight of this matter,” Jordan wrote in a letter accompanying his request.

The forthcoming deposition, which is set to take place behind closed doors, comes as House and Senate Republicans have zeroed in on Smith’s election-related investigation of Trump, describing it as a scandal that unnecessarily swept up hundreds of Republican lawmakers, GOP entities, Trump allies and media outlets as part of the probe.

In October, Jack Smith spoke out for the first time about his politically motivated investigations into President Trump during a sit-down conversation with dirty prosecutor Andrew Weissmann at the University of London.

Andrew Weissmann ran Robert Mueller’s Trump-Russia witch hunt, and many believe he was involved in other cases against Trump.

Smith lashed out at the Trump DOJ for bringing cases against criminal Democrats and Deep Staters while defending his own cases against President Trump.

Jack Smith was appointed as Special Counsel in 2022 by Joe Biden’s Attorney General Merrick Garland to investigate Trump just one day after Trump announced his 2024 bid for the White House.

Several months later, in August 2022, Biden sent machine-gun-toting federal agents to raid President Trump’s Mar-a-Lago estate.

In June 2023, Jack Smith indicted Trump on 37 federal counts in Miami for lawfully storing presidential records at his Mar-a-Lago estate, which was protected by Secret Service agents.

Trump was charged with 31 counts under the Espionage Act of willful retention of national defense information and six other process crimes stemming from his conversations with his lawyer.

In a separate case in Washington DC, Jack Smith indicted Trump on four counts: Conspiracy to defraud the United States, conspiracy to obstruct an official proceeding, obstruction of and attempt to obstruct an official proceeding, and conspiracy against rights.

Jack Smith defended his cases against Trump and said the idea that politics would play a role in his cases is “absolutely ludicrous.”

“These are team players who don’t want to do anything but good in the world. They’re not interested in politics. I get very concerned when I see how easy it is to demonize these people for political ends when these are the very sort of people I think we should be celebrating,” Smith said of his team of Deep State prosecutors.

Last summer Judge Aileen Cannon dismissed Jack Smith’s classified documents case based on unlawful appointment and funding of the special counsel.

Jack Smith’s DC case was dismissed after President Trump won the 2024 presidential election.
