Cities and towns around the country celebrate cherished Christmas traditions, including the lighting of an annual Christmas tree.

But in woke Portland, any vestiges of Christmas were erased from the city’s celebration, which was referred to only as a “tree” lighting ceremony and featured chants of “free Palestine.”

A representative from the Confederated Tribes of Warm Springs kicked off the event by first thanking everyone in the crowd for coming out on Native American Heritage Day.

She then turned the microphone over to a woman draped in a Palestinian flag who then led the crowd in a “Free Palestine” chant.

The New York Post reports:

“This is the perfect time to bring this up. There are a lot of genocides going on,” she said only moments into the tree-lighting ceremony.

“Can I get a ‘Free, free Palestine,’” she asked, and some members of the crowd were heard obliging.

Nearly an hour into the ceremony, Mayor Keith Wilson addressed the crowd and brought out Santa Claus and the city’s representatives before switching on the 10,000 bulbs on the 75-foot-tall tree.

Even local outlets Oregon Live could only muster calling the event a ‘holiday tree’ tradition.

The erasure of Christmas from a Christmas event drew widespread criticism.

TV and radio host Wayne Allyn Root noted, “They won’t say “Christmas” but they can use Christmas event to lecture ‘free Palestine.’”
