Maduro Fears for His Life, as Venezuelan ‘Cartel de Los Soles’ Is Designated a Foreign Terrorist Organization, and Reports Anticipate New Wave of Operations Against the Country

Rumors say Maduro can’t sleep.

Fear has become Maduro’s middle name.

While the largest US military deployment is massing out off the coast of Venezuela, dictator Nicolas Maduro is keeping a brave façade, calling for peace, singing ‘Imagine’ and dancing… badly.

But reports state that Maduro in fact is in fear for his life.

The Telegraph reported

“The US is preparing to launch new operations against the country in the coming days, officials said, including a CIA operation to overthrow Mr. Maduro.”

The Trump administration has described Venezuela as a ‘narco state’, and the ‘tyrant of Caracas’ is said to be complicit in drug trafficking.

“Mr. Maduro fears he could be killed following a betrayal from within his inner circle or a US military strike, a former official of the ruling Socialist party told The Telegraph.”

“It comes as the Trump administration has designated the Cartel of the Suns drug-trafficking network, which Washington claims is led by Mr. Maduro, as a terrorist organization.”

“Inside the president’s circle, top officials have already begun to ‘play with the idea’ that he will not remain in power, said Eustoquio Contreras, who once served as deputy foreign minister under Hugo Chávez, Mr Maduro’s predecessor, and has since broken with the government.

Mr. Contreras said the president’s allies were now likely trying to engineer a transition that would prevent opposition leader María Corina Machado from taking office. […] ‘This crisis is reaching its end. Hopefully that comes through negotiation. If not, violence will be inevitable. There is a collective sense that this has reached the final stage’.”
