Shots Fired at US Consulate in Toronto, RCMP Confirms it’s a ‘National Security Incident’ (VIDEO)
In a brazen early-morning attack, shots were fired at the United States Consulate in downtown Toronto on Tuesday.
The incident, which occurred around 5:30 a.m. local time, resulted in no injuries but has been labeled a “national security incident” by the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP), who are collaborating with Toronto Police and international partners to find the suspects and determine the motives.

According to Toronto Police, officers responded to reports of gunfire at the consulate located on University Avenue near Queen Street West.
Evidence of a discharged firearm was located at the scene, including bullet impact marks on the building.

During a press briefing on Tuesday morning, Toronto Police Deputy Chief Frank Barredo revealed that a white Honda CRV pulled up in front of the consulate, two individuals emerged, and one of them fired what appeared to be a handgun at the front of the building.
RCMP Chief Superintendent Chris Leather added, “The RCMP takes threats to the security of individuals living in Canada very seriously and wants to reassure everyone that there is no indication of an immediate threat to public safety at this time.”

Police are urging anyone with information about the incident to come forward.
No arrests have been made, and no suspects have been publicly named.
Ontario Premier Doug Ford called the shooting an “unacceptable act of intimidation.”
“The shooting that took place at the U.S. consulate early this morning is an absolutely unacceptable act of violence and intimidation aimed at our American friends and neighbors,” Ford said in a statement. “Everyone at all levels of government and across Canada needs to make clear that there is zero tolerance for this sort of intimidating and dangerous behavior.”
U.S. officials, including representatives from the embassy in Ottawa and the Department of State, have not yet issued public statements, but they are reportedly in close contact with Canadian authorities.
