President Trump will deliver the 2026 State of the Union Address, his first of his second term, to a Joint Session of Congress tonight, where he is expected to deliver a message focused on the economy.

Fox News reports that Trump’s remarks will focus on the working class and affordability, and he is expected to make new economic policy announcements.

More from Fox:

The 2026 address will be forward-looking but rooted in what the White House described as measurable progress on cost-of-living pressures, with Trump expected to list off statistics and data on the economy following the sky-high inflation rates of the Biden administration, while showcasing everyday Americans who have benefited from Trump policies, Fox News Digital learned.

“President Trump’s State of the Union Address will celebrate 250 glorious years of our nation’s independence and excellence, highlighting incredible stories of American heroes throughout the speech,” White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt told Fox News Digital ahead of the speech.

“In one year, President Trump has turned our country around from the brink of disaster, and he will rightly declare the State of Our Union is strong, prosperous and respected,” she continued. “The president will proudly tout his administration’s many record-breaking accomplishments, and also layout an ambitious agenda to continue bringing the American Dream back for working people.”

Touting Trump Accounts, tax cuts in the “big, beautiful bill,” lowering drug prices and working to ease the ability of American families to purchase a home are among Trump’s top orders of business, Fox News Digital learned. The president also is expected to make undisclosed economic policy announcements during the speech.

Tonight’s speech also comes in the wake of the Supreme Court’s ruling, which invalidated his tariffs on foreign countries under the International Emergency Economic Powers Act (IEEPA). Trump responded to the ruling last week, announcing the continuation of existing tariffs and the imposition of new tariffs under various laws, including Section 122 of the Trade Act of 1974, which allows him to impose tariffs of up to 15% for 150 days with few limitations.

Trump signed an executive order on Friday imposing a 10% global tariff on every country importing goods into the United States, The Gateway Pundit reported.

Trump later upped the ante, announcing that he would increase the tariffs from 10% to 15%, while slamming the “extraordinarily anti-American” Supreme Court in a statement. “During the next short number of months, the Trump Administration will determine and issue the new and legally permissible Tariffs, which will continue our extraordinarily successful process of Making America Great Again – GREATER THAN EVER BEFORE!!!” Trump said.

Trump is expected to address the tariff controversy during his remarks, which many Democratic lawmakers plan to protest once again. Per CBS, dozens of Democrats plan to attend counterprogramming events to the President’s speech or attend the speech “with silent defiance,as House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries suggested during a recent news conference.

It can be recalled that Trump’s most recent address to a Joint Session in March 2025 descended into chaos when Democratic lawmakers became disruptive and hateful, refusing to even stand for the mothers of Laken Riley and Jocelyn Nungaray, who were savagely murdered by illegal alien criminals, or a 13-year-old brain cancer survivor who was being honored by the President.

Instead, they all held up signs with various attacks on the President.

As the Gateway Pundit reported, it was so chaotic that far-left Democrat Rep. Al Green (TX) was forcibly removed from the Capitol for repeatedly disrupting and screaming at President Trump.
