Ukrainian Defenses Overwhelmed by Russian Steady Advances on Two Fronts (VIDEOS)

Russian momentum is picking up, as the conquests in the East and North front accumulate.

With an acute shortage of military supplies and – more importantly – of human resources, the Ukrainian army has an increasingly hard job defending against the Russian forces exerting pressure at multiple points along the 745-mile-long front line.

Presently, Moscow’s offensives are focused on two main areas: in the northern Sumy and Kharkov regions, and in the eastern Donetsk oblast – and as a result, Kiev’s reserve troops are having difficulties plugging the holes in the overwhelmed defenses.

And, as if that was not bad enough, Russia is about to expand operations to the new Ukrainian region of Dnipropetrovsk.

Associated Press reported:

“Kremlin forces are steadily gaining ground in the strategic eastern logistics hub of Pokrovsk, the capture of which would hand them a major battlefield victory and bring them closer to acquiring the entire Donetsk region. The fighting there has also brought combat to the border of the neighboring Dnipropetrovsk region for the first time.”

On top of all that, the US has halted some weapons shipments to Ukraine, because its own stockpiles are depleted – especially air defense missiles and systems.

Watch: Russian assault group takes a Ukrainian position in Sumy.

“In the Sumy region, Ukrainian forces face a constant barrage of aerial glide bombs, drones and relentless assaults by small groups of Russian infantrymen. They endure the attacks to prevent Russian forces from being moved to other battlegrounds in the eastern Donetsk region.”

The Ukrainian forces try to make a big stand in Sumy to keep up to 60k seasoned Russian troops from reinforcing positions in the Donetsk, Zaporozhie and Kherson regions, and accelerating the already fast tempo of conquest.

But the war’s most crucial battle is waged in eastern Donetsk, where Russia advances toward its goal of capturing all the Donbas region.

“Unable to tackle the strategically significant logistical hub of Pokrovsk directly, Russian forces are attempting to encircle the city, a maneuver that requires encroaching on the borders of the Dnipropetrovsk region.

Bringing the war to a sixth Ukrainian region would be detrimental for Ukrainian morale and give Russia more leverage in negotiations if its forces manage to carve out a foothold there.”

And, as reported by Ukrainian sources on the battlefield, the Russians are increasingly more confident of their impending victory.
