JD Vance Slams CBS News for Harassing His Mother-in-Law in Latest Anti-Trump Hit Piece

Vice President JD Vance fired back at CBS News on Wednesday, accusing the far-left outlet of stooping to new lows by targeting his mother-in-law, Lakshmi Chilukuri, in a desperate attempt to smear President Donald Trump and his administration’s war on woke ideology.

The network’s latest hit piece tried to paint a hypocritical picture of Vance by highlighting Chilukuri’s past embrace of diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) policies—policies the Trump-Vance team has proudly dismantled in their first weeks in office, Fox News reported.

The CBS hit piece is headlined, “She advanced DEI at her university. Her son-in-law, Vice President JD Vance, wants to end it nationwide.”

CBS reporters Graham Kates and Daniel Klaidman zeroed in on Chilukuri, the provost of UC San Diego’s Sixth College and mother of Second Lady Usha Vance, painting her as some sort of DEI poster child.

The piece highlights her role in creating a course on “race, ethnicity, and gender in biology and medicine,” her spot on the university’s diversity committee, and her supposed pride in pushing progressive dogma.

The implication? That Vance is a hypocrite for opposing DEI while his mother-in-law embraces it.

But Vance wasn’t about to let CBS’s latest smear job slide.

“I don’t like DEI, and I’m proud of what our administration has done on that front,” he told CBS when asked for a comment.

“But I love my mother-in-law. If she doesn’t share my views on DEI I suppose I’ll have to do what 99 percent of Americans do when confronted with a family member who doesn’t always agree with them: get over it,” Vance said.

“I’ll choose instead to focus on her kindness and the fact that she’s an incredible mother and loving grandmother to the most important people in my life.”

Then he dropped the hammer on CBS’s unethical tactics: “This story exists because CBS has decided that harassing my mother-in-law is a reasonable price in order to attack President Trump.”

Meanwhile, CBS’s hypocrisy is on full display. This is the same network facing a $20 billion lawsuit from Trump for election interference over its shady “60 Minutes” edit of Kamala Harris’s interview just days before the election—a move many say was a last-ditch effort to prop up a flailing Democratic campaign.

Now, they’re scraping the bottom of the barrel by dragging Vance’s family into the fray.
